Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this site and the records it contains.

Understanding Court Records

Does appearing on this site mean someone is guilty?

No — and this is the most important thing to understand. A court record means only that a case has been filed with the court. It does not mean the person has been convicted, found guilty, or even that the charges will ultimately be proven. Under the United States Constitution, every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many cases are dismissed entirely, end in acquittals, or are resolved without any finding of guilt.

What does "Open" case status mean?

An open case has not yet been fully resolved. It is still active in the court system — a trial date may be set, pre-trial proceedings may be ongoing, or the matter may be pending before a judge. Open does not indicate outcome in any direction.

What does "Disposed" mean?

A disposed case has reached its final resolution. This could mean it was dismissed, the defendant was acquitted, the defendant was convicted after trial, or the matter was resolved through a plea agreement. "Disposed" by itself tells you the case is closed — not what the outcome was. For the specific outcome, check the court's official portal.

What is a Bench Warrant?

A bench warrant is issued directly by a judge — typically when a defendant fails to appear for a required court date, or fails to comply with a court order. It authorizes law enforcement to arrest the person and bring them before the court. A bench warrant marked Served has been executed (the person was arrested or appeared). Quashed means the warrant was cancelled by the court — often because the underlying issue was resolved.

What does "Active Warrant" mean on a case page?

We flag a case as having an active warrant when the most recent warrant on file has a status that is not Served, Quashed, Recalled, Dismissed, or Vacated. This is based solely on the court's public records at the time of our last update and may not be current. Always verify warrant status directly with the court before acting on this information.

What do the charge codes mean (e.g. 28-1381A1)?

These are Arizona Revised Statutes references. The number before the dash is the title of the statute, and the alphanumeric portion after identifies the specific subsection. For example, 28-1381A1 refers to ARS Title 28, Section 1381, subsection A1 — which covers DUI. The plain-English description always follows the code on each case page.

About This Website

Who runs this site?

This is an independent website. We are not affiliated with any court, the Town of Gilbert, or any government agency. We are a private party republishing publicly available information in a more accessible and searchable format.

How current is the data?

We update the site regularly, but court records can change daily. For the most current information on any case, visit the relevant court's public portal directly:

Gilbert Municipal Court — Official Public Portal

Can I request removal of my record?

If a case has been expunged or sealed by a court order, we will remove it upon request with documentation. If you believe a record appears here in error, contact us and we will review promptly. We cannot remove records that remain active and public in the court's own database — the removal must happen there first. Once the court removes a record from its public portal, we remove it from this site.

Is this site free to use?

Yes, completely. All information here is drawn from free public court portals and republished at no charge.
